  A Brief Company History:

Established in 1983 during a hosiery boom in the Midlands, Parliament Hosiery boasts one of the longest running histories of contemporary sock firms within Leicestershire. Being a family run business specialising in almost all areas of the sock trade, Parliament Hosiery has been growing from strength to strength over the past 30 years.

With experience within the hosiery trade already behind them, and knowledge gained through textiles college and electrical engineering, brothers Paul and Mark Stevens found the decision to set up their own company a no-brainer, their expertise and prowess being enough to establish the foundations of a successful business.

The Leicester Sock Trade

The city of Leicester is famous for many things. Sure it doesn't hold as much magetism as Manchester, Liverpool or any other northern city with a premier league football team, but Leicester has its fair share of things to be known for. As well as producing one of the most successful bands in modern history (I mean Kasabian and not Showaddywaddy by the way) it gave birth to some of history's greatest pioneers. There was John Merrick (the elephant man to his friends) Gok Wan (who knew parading middle aged women around naked would one day be acceptable?) and of course footballing stroke crisp eating legend Gary Lineker. Enough said about people with physical deformities however (the less said about Gary Lineker's ears the better), Leicester has a rich history of culture, crisps, and more importantly, hosiery.



At one point in time, Leicester was the center of the hosiery trade, boasting more enterprises, businesses and success stories than any other British city, with socks, shoes and knitwear being the foundations of a city on the move.

Today however, because of a fast paced world of globalisation and international trade, the once mighty British industry has slowed down, and only a small amount of traditional British manufacturers remain.

Parliament Hosiery is an existing, flourishing and traditional hosiery manufacturer in Leicester, founded in 1983 by brother Paul and Mark Stevens.
